METALLICA's $4.3 million documentary "Some Kind of Monster" has been nominated in the "Feature" category at the 20th Annual IDA Distinguished Documentary Achievement Awards competition. The film will be going up against 13 other nominees: "Aileen: Life And Death Of A Serial Killer", "Being Dorothy", "Born Into Brothels", "Control Room", "The Corporation", "Fahrenheit 9/11", "Hiding and Seeking", "Home of the Brave", "Juvies", "La Vie Comme Elle Va (As Life Goes By)", "Music From the Inside Out", "The Take", and "Word Wars". The winning nonfiction films and filmmakers will be feted at the IDA Awards Benefit Gala on December 10 at the Directors Guild of America Theatre in Hollywood.

The IDA Awards selection process began with peer group juries who viewed all submissions to select nominees in each category for final review by a blue-ribbon panel.
